one town over

i drove around the town of merlin the other day, and really enjoyed the stuff i found. it was mostly old junked cars, trucks and a bus.

back to my roots

i've been shooting people (with my camera) so much lately i haven't gone out and photographed any still life images, which is what got me into photography in the first place. yesterday i drove around for an hour or so in an attempt to do just that. and it felt really, really good. here's the result...

i'm closer to thirty now.

i turned 26 on sunday. i was in portland with my roommate and some people she knew. we had a solid time, and it was a great birthday...other than getting closer to 30.

this also marks one of the very few birthdays where my buddy Captain Zoom didn't sing me my personalized birthday song. for those who don't know, Zoom's song is the highlight of my birthday, as he makes a trip all the way from the moon to sing me a song as he zooms overhead. it's a very special occasion. if you go to his website, and give him some money, Captain Zoom will also provide you your very own birthday song as well. it's worth it. seriously.

here's a quick sample of the song. though in this case, Zoom is singing to some nerd named Jason.

this truly is one of my favorite songs ever, and the best part of my birthday. you can bet that when my audio cassette is all worn out, i'll be ordering a new version on CD. though i have to say, Captain Zoom makes a very high quality product, and i doubt the tape will ever wear out.

thanks zoom. see you next yeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaarrr!

my (second) first wedding

my friend amanda got married, and asked me to be her wedding photographer. a huge leap of faith on her part. (the only bigger leap of faith anyone could make would be to ask me to pose for their 'beefcakes of photography' calendar.) so after a few nights of restless sleep plagued by photography nightmares i ended up at the wedding with my camera in hand. these are some of the shots i came up with. i say this is my (second) first wedding, because on the only other wedding i photographed i was just an assistant. this time i was all on my own. scary stuff...but really crazy exciting as well. alright, on with the photos.

getting ready...

the ceremony...

the bride and groom...

the (not so) formals...

(we did some serious ones, but i liked these best.)

the toasts...

the dancing...

the rope swing...

yours truly...

the end of the evening...

needless to say, everyone enjoyed themselves. it was a great weekend all around and i enjoyed the challenge of being the sole photographer. i learned a lot...a whole lot, and can't thank amanda and josh enough for providing me that opportunity. you guys are completely rad!
